Situated Cognition in Italy – state of the art

This article examines the theoretical and methodological contributions of a contextual cognitive approach from an Italian perspective. The cultural background that facilitated the extension of this approach to the framework of Italian psychology will first be described. Three main fields of applied research that inspired contextual prospective are distinguished: educational contexts, social and communication contexts, and technological contexts. From the overall analysis, some elements emerge as common to the different methodological and empirical techniques. At the same time, the contextual approach shows all its heuristic and applicable potentialities.
